New Class at Malory Towers

A few weeks ago, I had posted about the Malory Towers series and some major concerns I had with the series.

This week, I read New Class at Malory Towers co-authored by 4 women, Narinder Dhami, Rebecca Westcott, Lucy Mangan, and Patrice Lawrence.

This book has 4 short stories and in each story, a new character joins in. These characters are from different ethnicities and they are very different from the original characters.  An emotion that I felt throughout the book was a relief because there was such little judgment. I could see a drastic change from the previous editions of the characters. They have become far more open-minded and this has resulted in the book giving out a positive vibe to the reader. I enjoyed reading the books better than the previous ones because they were willing to give the new girls a chance and they agreed that people can be bookish unwilling to play sports.

The best part of this book was how Darell (the head girl) stood up against Alicia (the brazen prankster) even though they were quite good friends from the first year. I liked to see how Darell actually stood up for her new friend because Alicia constantly called her nerdish and boring. Even though the writing style was a bit different, I certainly enjoyed the book because of it more accepting and just nature and I would definitely recommend it to you.
